On Friday, 15th August, eight members of our Perth team swapped laptops for Pottiputkis to take part in Trillion Trees’ annual planting day. It was a welcome change of pace, a chance to get our hands dirty, pick up a few mozzie bites, and contribute to something bigger than ourselves.

At Perspektiv, we talk a lot about finding a better way and creating a more sustainable world. Days like this are our opportunity to walk that talk. Through Perspektiv’s volunteer leave program, our people can step away from their desks and give their time and energy back to the community. For us, that meant helping restore local bushland alongside dozens of other volunteers.

A highlight of the day was revisiting trees we had planted in previous years and seeing how they’ve grown. It’s a tangible reminder that our collective efforts, small as they may feel at the time, are having a lasting impact.

We also got to witness Simon Cherriman from The Re-cyc-ology Project install a black cockatoo nesting box and hear how tree planting is playing a crucial role in restoring the biodiversity these endangered birds need to breed. Knowing that our work contributes to the return of native wildlife makes the effort all the more rewarding.

Our impact:

  • 2,880 trees planted in one day!

  • One nest box installed for black cockatoos

  • Supporting 23 native species through the restoration of biodiverse ecosystems

  • Building habitat for a wide range of birds, frogs and pollinators

  • Contributing to Perth’s urban canopy, which will play an important role in reducing local temperatures

As the sun set over the site, it was inspiring to see the area gradually returning to the wild. We’re proud to know that in years to come, we’ll be able to bring our families (and dogs!) to this flourishing bushland and see firsthand the difference we’ve made together.

For our team, the planting day wasn’t just about trees; it was about connection, purpose, and giving back. We’ll be back next year, ready to dig in again.
