Lately, I’ve been noticing a shift in how sustainability is being practised. Not a sudden change, but a gradual narrowing. Increasingly, sustainability is being defined by what can be measured, verified, and disclosed. What can stand up to audit. What fits within financial reporting frameworks. This has brought rigour, and that matters. But it also raises a question: What happens when sustainability is reduced to what can be audited? 

We’re investing in both the problem and the solution. As the world pushes toward net zero, fossil fuel systems continue to receive significant support, creating growing risks for assets, supply chains, and markets. With geopolitical tensions already disrupting global energy flows, the consequences are no longer theoretical.

For all the momentum behind net zero commitments, one of the most critical parts of the global economy remains largely underexamined: maritime shipping.

Perspektiv worked alongside Link Alliance to support the IS As Built submission for Contract 3. Our role focused on technical modelling, documentation support, review, and independent assurance, contributing to Link Alliance’s achievement of a Leading IS Rating under ISC v1.2.

Jordyn Barlow and Kirsten Neil volunteered with the Town of Mosman Park at a local community event designed to rethink how waste is managed at public gatherings. Instead of the typical single-use plates and cutlery, the event trialled a reusable system supported by a central waste station. All bins in the park were removed, encouraging attendees to bring their waste directly to volunteers who could help sort it correctly.

Over our 9-year history, we have created more than 25 permanent roles, employed over 50 people, and worked on over 1000 projects. This is something we are very proud of. In a sector that suffers from skills shortages, we feel our contribution to job creation and capability building in the sustainability world has been outsized.

Disclosure is moving from the voluntary presentation of select narratives to mandatory disclosure of specified impacts. Your Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Inventory (and the Basis of its Preparation (BoP)) needs to be absolutely water-tight, capable of withstanding scrutiny from regulators, auditors, assurance providers, investors, and boards.
