Transmission networks, renewable energy hubs, water recycling facilities , and resource recovery plants are rapidly becoming the defining features of Australia’s infrastructure pipeline. These projects are no longer “emerging trends”; they are becoming the backbone of a net-zero and climate-resilient future. But an important truth is often overlooked: Building more energy and water infrastructure does not automatically mean building sustainable infrastructure. 

Sustainability and climate risk aren’t “nice to have” anymore; they’re business fundamentals. Organisations across every sector are now expected to understand their climate-related risks, respond to regulation and weave ESG into everyday decision-making.  One qualification that genuinely enables this capability is the GARP Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR®) Certification. 

Our lives increasingly depend on the cloud, but while we are staring at our screens, few of us are actively contemplating the physical infrastructure that makes it possible. Data centres enable streamed movies, online payments, and AI queries: energy- and water-hungry facilities that are becoming increasingly critical and commonplace in Australia.

The Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS) will reshape the way companies disclose climate-related financial risks and opportunities. Aligned with the International Sustainability Standards Board’s IFRS S1 and S2, the new regime introduces a consistent, investor-focused framework for sustainability and climate disclosures.  For many organisations, the challenge isn’t whether to act... It’s knowing where to start.
