Our Perth team gets their hands dirty with Trillion Trees

On Friday 31 July, our Perth team swapped screens for shovels and spent the day planting trees with Trillion Trees at Guildford Meadows.
At Perspektiv, sustainability isn't just what we advise on; it's what we practise. Giving our team paid volunteering leave to get involved in projects like this is one small way we walk the talk, turning our values into action outside the office as well as in it.
And what a day it was. Sunshine, soil under our fingernails, good conversation, and a few of us dodging ants in our pants along the way. It was a great reminder that restoring landscapes is hands-on, occasionally itchy work and all the more rewarding for it.
Perth has had a particularly dry winter this year, and it showed in the soil we were digging into. So we were relieved when rain came through that night and again over the following week, giving our newly planted trees the best possible start and leaving us feeling confident they'll take root.
The below-average rainfall we've seen this winter is one of the more visible signs of a changing climate here in WA. Days like this won't reverse that on their own, but planting and rewilding landscapes like Guildford Meadows is one small, tangible way we can give back and help build resilience for the future.
This year's planting involved infilling areas from previous plantings, which meant we got to see the results of earlier volunteers' efforts already taking root and growing. Infilling with a diverse mix of species helps build a stronger, more resilient site overall, supporting a thriving, self-sustaining ecosystem rather than a single-species stand.
It's a small contribution in the scheme of things, but one we're proud to have made together as a team.
Thanks to Trillion Trees for having us... We'll be back!
