Head of Sustainability Ratings, Simon Hooper recently took advantage of our Adventure Leave policy, a benefit designed to support our team's pursuit of adventure and exploration. For Simon, this was a journey to Norway, a destination he had long aspired to visit. With his daughter Olive by his side, he embarked on an unforgettable adventure.
Their trip began with a scenic train ride from Oslo, heading west towards the stunning Sognefjord region. Along the way, they made stops at Myrdal and Flam, eventually spending the night in the charming village of Gudvangen. Nestled at the entrance of Nærøyfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Gudvangen offered a front-row seat to one of Norway's most inspiring natural wonders.
Simon was particularly amazed by the sheer scale of the fjords. The towering mountains, which dramatically shorten daylight by blocking the sun for hours. The landscapes filled the horizon, and his phone quickly filled up with photos of the breathtaking scenery!
The journey continued with a train ride to Bergen, a city that perfectly encapsulates the Scandinavian charm and culture. Reflecting on the experience, Simon shared that the trip exceeded his expectations and has already sparked plans for a return visit to explore even more of Norway's rugged beauty.
Simon’s adventure is a perfect example of how our Adventure Leave policy offers our team the chance to experience the world in ways that enrich both their personal and professional lives.
