Recent government procurement frameworks make their motivation clear when it comes to outcomes they wish to see from their spend. Increasingly, tenders are prioritising:

  • Creating local, secure, skilled jobs

  • Opening pathways for underrepresented groups

  • Building Australian sustainability capability

  • Keeping profits and tax revenue in Australia

  • Strengthening local supply chains

  • Reducing long-term social cost

At Perspektiv, we don’t just advise on these sustainability and social value outcomes. We have spent the last nine years delivering them ourselves.

Our Deliberate Investment in Australian Sustainability Capability

Over our 9-year history, we have created more than 25 permanent roles, employed over 50 people, and worked on over 1000 projects. This is something we are very proud of. In a sector that suffers from skills shortages, we feel our contribution to job creation and capability building in the sustainability world has been outsized.

Even more so when you consider that a large proportion of our competition are multinationals who are increasingly supported by offshore resources in low-cost centres around the world. Or are small operators that don’t pursue local job creation or capability building to the same extent.

Our contribution to Australia’s sustainability landscape lies in the people we have trained and empowered, the practitioners we have mentored, and the capability we have helped embed across the sector.

We have consistently invested in building deep technical expertise in Australia, including in sustainable infrastructure, corporate ESG, and carbon & circularity (all areas that will require skilled experts for years to come). Our independent team of experts continues to contribute to the evolution of best practice in the sustainability community (e.g. via B Corp, UN Global Compact, SBTi, Climate Active, AASB, ISC, GBCA, EIANZ, ALCAS).

But this is about more than credentials. We believe it is about ensuring Australia remains a global leader and a sustainability centre of excellence, developing expertise we can export to the world.

Building Capability Inside Client Organisations

A key part of our impact lies in the capability we leave behind through our partnerships. Across hundreds of engagements, we have worked alongside client teams to build internal confidence and competence. Through structured training, collaborative delivery and practical implementation support, we help organisations move from reliance on external advisors to informed ownership of sustainability outcomes.

This evidence-based knowledge transfer strengthens decision-making, improves commercial alignment and ensures sustainability requirements are embedded from concept through to delivery. This partnership model amplifies our impact: each program not only achieves its targets but also raises the sector's baseline capability.

Social Value as a Strategic Outcome

Sustainability today is inseparable from social value. It includes who is employed, who is trained, who participates in supply chains and who benefits from the products, services and infrastructure delivered. It includes how biodiversity is protected, how resources are used and reused, and how assets serve diverse communities through inclusive design.

By maintaining a strong local workforce and actively contributing to industry development, we see ourselves as pragmatically supporting not only project outcomes but also broader economic and community resilience.

Investing in the Long Game

Australia’s sustainability transition requires more than technical compliance. It requires skilled practitioners, confident leadership and institutions capable of delivering increasingly complex outcomes.

With more than 1000 projects worked on, we are proud not only of what we have delivered but also of the capability we have helped grow, internally, client-side, and across the broader ecosystem.

We are proud to have created local skilled jobs, built industry capability, kept profits and tax revenue in Australia, and strengthened local supply chains. Because in the end, the sustainability agenda is about people thriving - today and in the future.
