As 2025 wraps up, it’s hard to miss the global sustainability plot twists, shifting political positions, trade tensions, tariff chatter… the list goes on. But while politicians debate, revise, and occasionally reverse, one thing has become crystal clear:

Businesses aren’t waiting. They’re getting on with it.

Across Australia and beyond, organisations are recognising that sustainability is no longer a “nice-to-have” or a compliance checkbox, it’s a genuine driver of efficiency, resilience, competitiveness and innovation. And this year, we’ve been proud to partner with clients who aren’t waiting for perfect policy alignment to act. They’re choosing to lead (and in many cases, to outperform).

Net zero and reporting - transition is accelerating, not slowing down

Despite global political noise, this year brought more demand (not less) for:

  • credible emissions reporting

  • data-backed transition planning

  • assurance readiness

  • transparent disclosures

Particularly across utilities and the mining and resources sector.

We’ve helped the likes of Chalice Mining, Codan, Custom Fleet, Phebra, Development WA, and Challenger Ltd to:

  • Strengthen emissions inventories and modelling

  • Build strategies grounded in operational realities

  • Prepare for tightening expectations from regulators, investors and the market

To reiterate our previous message:

Businesses are getting on with it.

Raising the bar on infrastructure sustainability across Australia and New Zealand

2025 delivered some of the most significant Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) outcomes in Perspektiv’s history, and we’re shouldn’t be shy about celebrating them.

Platinum IS As-Built Rating: METRONET Morley–Ellenbrook Line (MEL)

A landmark 21km public transport link expanding sustainable mobility across Perth’s north-eastern corridor.

Perspektiv supported the project from award through to completion, providing end-to-end ISP services, from design through to the As-Built submission. Our work included SQP review of the Annual Report, the Resilience Risk Assessment and Adaptation Plan, and full Resource, Energy, Water and Waste modelling using our ISC-Aligned LCA Tool. We also supported the As-Built CSF preparation, ensuring the project was backed by robust evidence and on track for its exceptional Platinum result.

Leading IS As-Built Rating (highest score ever in Aotearoa): City Rail Link (CRL)

CRL showed what happens when sustainability is embedded early; innovation flourishes, indigenous cultural values are honoured, and performance-based decisions deliver real impact. Engaged by Link Alliance, Perspektiv delivered end-to-end support for the C3 IS As-Built submission: technical modelling, documentation drafting, QA, independent audit preparation and working through tight timelines and complex requirements. The result? A Leading IS Rating under ISC v1.2 and a new national benchmark.

And that’s not all…

Our advisory and secondment teams delivered evidence-based, cost-effective sustainability performance across Armadale Line Upgrade Alliance METRONET Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project, Smart Freeway Mitchell Southbound, North West Transmission Developments, Marinus Link, METRONET program-level reporting and Westport, reinforcing our reputation for strategy, governance and outcomes (not just paperwork).

Momentum across industries

Our portfolio expanded across established and emerging sectors:

  • Transport and infrastructure

  • Energy transition and utilities

  • Mining and resources

  • Data centres and emerging tech

  • Healthcare and pharmaceuticals

  • FMCG and sustainable packaging

  • Investing and finance

The trend across every industry? Sustainability is becoming a commercial advantage, not a cost, not a constraint, but a genuine enabler of performance.

Looking ahead

2025 has reinforced what we’ve long believed: Businesses are getting on with it and are finding that ambitious sustainability outcomes are absolutely achievable, and often more cost-effective, when embedded early.

Regardless of shifting policy debates, the organisations and projects that are doubling down on credible science, data-backed decision-making and resilient, future-ready strategies are already positioning themselves as sector leaders.

We’re energised for the year ahead and excited to continue working with our clients, collaborators and the new organisations joining us in 2026 to define best practice and set the next benchmarks.
